How Coro is made

Coro combines innovation and safety through a meticulous manufacturing process.

Coro is a form of silicone nipple shield, with a flow sensor and small pod that holds our state of the art technology. It has been designed to resemble normal nipple shields and can be positioned in many ways so that it does not disrupt your baby’s latch.

Research carried out to explore how nipple shields might impact breastfeeding reports mixed conclusions. One group showed that milk transfer may be impacted by nipple shields with babies who have not used them before, but for those accustomed to using shields no such impact was reported.

Other studies have looked into the impact of shields on breastfeeding rates and maternal satisfaction. Again, results are mixed but high rates of maternal satisfaction were reported in one study and others suggest that shields can assist with breastfeeding initiation and in overcoming breastfeeding difficulties. We have explored this question in full in our blog post, click here to read more.

We believe that with a little bit of practice and appropriate guidance on how to latch with Coro, it is unlikely to negatively impact milk transfer, but it is important to keep the above findings in mind. Check out our blog post on attachment and positioning for guidance on latching your baby with and without a nipple shield.
